Street Seisiún talent competition is back!
€3,500 in prizes up for grabs
The Anglo-Celt Street Seisiún talent competition is back for the third year of the Cavan Fleadh with a prize fund totalling €3,500.

Once again, the contest is being run in conjunction with the Youth Sub Committee of the Fleadh Executive Committee and Fintan McManusStudios (FM Studios) in Belturbet, the latter putting up recording time for theoverall winner. Eurovision winner Charlie McGettigan is also back on board andwill judge the final of the Street Seisiún with the editor of The Anglo-Celt,Linda O’Reilly. The final will feature the best of the talent from the streetsduring the week on the Peace III gig rig on Sunday, August 19 from 2-4.30pm. Registration for the competition is necessary but FREE. Please email your details (name, age, address, number in group, mobile phone number )to streetseisiun@anglocelt.ie following which a detailed registration pack will be sent to you. There will also be a registration desk in the official Fleadh merchandise office beside the Imperial Bar, Cavan, from Tuesday morning, August 14.

The Anglo-Celt Street Seisiún talent competition is back for the third year of the Cavan Fleadh with a prize fund totalling €3,500.

Once again, the contest is being run in conjunction with theYouth Sub Committee of the Fleadh Executive Committee and Fintan McManusStudios (FM Studios) in Belturbet, the latter putting up recording time for the overall winner.

Eurovision winner Charlie McGettigan is also back on board andwill judge the final of the Street Seisiún with the editor of The Anglo-Celt, Linda O’Reilly. The final will feature the best of the talent from the streets during the week on the Peace III gig rig on Sunday, August 19 from 2-4.30pm.

“The purpose of The Street Seisiún talent competition is to bring the fleadh alive on the streets of Cavan town throughout the week of the festival.

“A lot of the official fleadh happens in competition venues behind closed doors. Also, those competing must have already qualified a tcounty and provincial level to compete in the All-Ireland Fleadh.

“However, the Street Seisiún talent competition is open to all regardless of level of ability, age or where you’re from.

“The only requirement is that you register, it’s free and you entertain the crowds with quality entertainment with a traditional Irish flavour,” outlined Ms O’Reilly.

Categories

There are 12 slots up for grabs on the gig rig in a total ofthree categories - 15 and under, 15-18 and over 18s. The emphasis of thecompetition will be on traditional Irish entertainment to including soloistsand groups of singers, dancers, musicians, sean a chaoís etc.

Amplified instruments are excluded and those performing forfinancial gain will not be considered.

Registration

Registration for the competition is necessary but FREE. Please email your details (name, age, address, number in group, mobile phone number )to streetseisiun@anglocelt.ie following which a detailed registration pack will be sent to you.

Heats

Heats will take place from Tuesday to Thursday from 5-7pm in both junior categories; while the senior rounds are on Friday from 5-8pm and onSaturday from 12 noon to 7pm. Judges will be circulating during those times on the Main Street between the top of Bridge Street and Thomas Ashe Street.

There be daily cash prizes for winners in the junior categories.

The best of the talent viewed will be selected to perform on thePeace III Gig Rig in the Street Seisíun final on Sunday afternoon, August 19 from 2-4.30pm.
